No person is an «island», everyone is connected to everyone else. A network of relationships is important to maintaining good health. Without loving relationships we tend to fall ill. They are part of our resources to cope effectively with daily life. There are other resources, too. We can gain power from nature or we find support and consolation in the spiritual world. If we lose the connection to these resources we might experience distress. Depressive episodes, the sense of helplessness, psychosomatic symptoms, panic attacks, etc., lead to poor (physical) health.
During counseling, we look together for reasons why these things are happening. We cannot change what has happened. However, we can change our behavior and how we perceive the world. With suitable therapeutic means we learn different, healthier coping methods to tackle difficult situations in the present and from the past. This is an active approach towards better health and wellbeing.
